Brazilian cities are synonymous of sun, celebration and joy to visitors who have the pleasure of getting to know them. Brasilia, the capital of the biggest South American country could not be an exception. The airs of modernity represent one of the most striking differences in the big city, compared to other touristic sites in Brazil.

The construction of Brasilia, which began in 1950, is alone an attraction for visitors. Brasilia was built specifically to serve as the capital of Brazil. For that reason, the governmental buildings are one of the most striking attractions of the urban landscape. These architectural works are located in the area known as Eixo Monumental (Monumental Axis, in English).

While it is true that the Brazilian capital is characterized by its modernity, it is also true that in its design, as part of its attraction, the use of parks surrounding the area was taken into consideration. For that reason, the practice of ecotourism is one of Brasilia’s attractions that make it a world-renowned touristic destination. Considering these virtues, it was considered as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, the only city built in the twentieth century to receive such an honor.

Among the touristic places that can’t be missed in Brasilia is the Botanical Garden. A piece of land of approximately 4,500 hectares, of which 526 are open to the public and along which you can enjoy exotic native plants. The best time to visit the place and the city is from April to September, when the weather is usually dry and has a nice and cooler temperature.

No doubt the charms of the city are undeniable, but Brasilia is much more than its architecture. If there is something Brazil has to offer its visitors is the exquisite variety and creativity of their gourmet dishes. The Brazilian capital has a wide range of restaurants and bars with the most famous dishes from local to international cuisine. The local menu is composed of fish from the Amazon river and the traditional “Pato no Tucupi”, an exceptional preparation of duck seasoned with jambu, a typical herb from the north of the country.

A tour in this city would not be complete without spending an afternoon shopping at the hundreds of local and international stores, full of sophisticated clothes, crafts and technology.Brasilia is one of the most important cities in Brazil and given its size and number of services, it is one of the most important cities in the world. The offer of entertainment and fun make it an ideal place for modernity and cosmopolitan city lovers.
