Tuesday, January 12th 2016. Be careful if you make all your bank transactions through your Smartphone. We would like you to know this warning goes double if the device you use to make them has a corporative line of the company you work for. Here is why.

With the current lifestyle most people live in this competitive world, in which performance is greatly measured by what we are able to do in an established time span; thus, the use of technology has become a forced need.

Nowadays we need a smartphone more than we require an assistant or secretary. And that’s because it can even solve complex work issues, sending urgent emails from your device effortlessly. Or with just a tap, it has just covered your credit bill quote, the payment for children’s school; which you had forgotten or hadn’t done due to a lack of time. We believe the vast majority of people have gone through this situation all the while saying: “God bless technology, what would I do without you!”
And indeed, nothing truer; technology, the apps we can install directly on our smartphones plus the Internet, have turned people into more efficient beings, able to perform several tasks at once without leaving home. But, these advantages have a darker side that must also be taken into account as it could get you into trouble, especially when dealing with money.

So, what we propose is not to stop using these tools; but rather to be careful about it. For instance, making bank transactions from a corporate line device –a common habit for many- is dangerously risky, since it’s been determined that most of them are made through WiFi connections, making them a target for the so called “cybercrimes”.

The study was made by two internationally acclaimed companies “B2B International” and “Kaspersky Lab”, which determined that many bank entities do not provide clients with great technological safety conditions in order to secure their online transactions; which increases the cases of online bank frauds.

So, while possible, avoid online bank transactions through your Smartphone, especially if it’s a corporative line or through a Wi-Fi connection. We recommend is that you make this sort of transactions through a computer, preferably one used by family; avoid making them even in the desktop computer at work. It’s not the same to send an email or a text message than carrying out transactions involving money. Remember, organize your time in order to make this type of transactions and take into account that the comfort of your home will always be the best option. Sometimes, a few minutes can make the difference.
