There is a city called Dubrovnik in Europe, considered the elegant city of Croatia, where through its constructions we can visualize a time of ostentation and good taste. Located 1624 feet away from the capital city of Croatia, surrounded by great walls constructed in the X century and restored in the XVII century, it has multiple touristic and historic attractions which will leave its visitors amazed with its magnificence; Dubrovnik rises with pride among its inhabitants as a surviving city of the war against Serbia.

It was previously known with the name Ragusa in ancient times, which means “the walled compound”, being named World Heritage by UNESCO in the year 1979, an architectonic treasure where you can observe the Venetian and Byzantine domain. Tourists shouldn’t forget about visiting the Rector’s Palace, an important edification because of its political and historic connotation, it was the headquarters of the government and the rector, also the residence of the prince of Dubrovnik. Nowadays, this beautiful palace is a museum dedicated to the history of the place; at the top of its structure you’ll enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the cathedral and the city.

Mount Srd is a hill just behind the walled city of Dubrovnik; it counts with a cable-carway in which you can go on in order to enjoy a wonderful view of the quiet Adriatic Sea, the Lokrum Island, the Elafiti Islands and of course, the city. In the month of August, 2007, there was a fire in Bosnia-Herzegovina which reached the territory of Croatia and covered parts of Cavtat, 19 miles to the south, until surrounding the city of Dubrovnik. Because it moved to the north through the valley of Zupa, the temperature was above the 40 ºC mark, the wind and dryness eased the propagation, to such an extreme that before it was extinguished it was believed that it could destroy the city and its inhabitants, but they, with courage and along with firefighters, after 24 hours, managed to dominate the flames.
