A new trend in the world of traveling has emerged as an ecological movement that is promoted in different countries around the world, including Spain, particularly in the region of Andalusia. It seeks to preserve natural habitats, promoting sustainable lifestyles.

Eco-tourism is not only based on caring for the environment, it also seeks to integrate and engage people by respecting the local culture, supporting trade in a fair and ecological way, towards a more natural future and the promotion of a tourism  that is respectful of ecology.

Ecotourism is promoted as “an environmentally responsible journey to natural areas” and also promotes conservation, which has had some impact on visitors, and particularly on local visitors.

This type of tourism has many strands. It is unknown for many, however it is projected as the future of tourism worldwide, caring for and promoting the conservation of the environment. Undoubtedly, it is an alternative to traditional tourism, although with a much smaller human impact.

The ecotourism trend has principles like environmental awareness, diminishing the negative impact in the communities, benefiting the natives and travelers with rewarding experiences and creating sensitivity towards the community.

In Spain, it is possible to practice ecotourism in different areas and one of the main places to visit is the Doñana National Park, located in the south of the peninsula, where tranquility is unshakable. This park offers the enjoyment of nature, animals and the environment. It also has accommodation in the area of Matalascañas or Mazarrón that will allow you to experience ecotourism in a unique environment in Spain.

It is necessary to arrange your visits to the Doñana National Park beforehand, they do not allow cars and they have a lot of rules. Once in the park, the visits are made in an ATV. However, it is a worthwhile trip, as you will be able to see different ecosystems where animals are free.

Another option for ecotourism is the Natural Park of forests and Marshes of Barbate in the province of Cadiz. Although it is one of the smallest parks in the province, it is a very attractive place, full of contrasts, where the combination of colors, turquoise waters and pine trees invite you to enjoy nature.

I could also visit the Garajonay National Park located in the Canary Islands, specifically on the island of La Gomera, in areas near Tenerife, which can be accessed by boat from the port in this city. It is a small island but the beauty of its forests is impressive, the colors you will see are perfect for a walk. You can find accommodation on the island and enjoy nature and its wonderful landscapes.

Eco-tourism in Costa Brava is impressive as you can see inactive volcanoes, beautiful beaches and cliffs and visit the area of La Garrotxa, 50 kilometers from the city of Girona, which will make your trip an unforgettable experience.
