The contribution they make to the planet is invaluable by decreasing the greenhouse effect, hence the awareness campaigns to preserve and care for them. Given its importance, the United Nations decreed March 21 as the International Day of Forests, as a way to value them. The Amazon, one of the largest and most impressive forests in the world is considered the Seventh Natural Wonder of the world, has an area of ​​six million square kilometers and extends throughout Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, French Guyana and Suriname.

Another of the most impressive virgin forests, is located between Norway, Russia, Sweden and Finland, known as the Scandinavian and Russian Taiga, rich in many species such as moose and wolves, and covered in juniper and pine.

Now, if you want to live an unforgettable experience, you cannot fail to visit in Sierra Nevada, California, the Sequoia Forest, known for its giant trees, housing the largest tree in the world, measuring 84 meters high, a true natural wonder. It has an extension of 1,635 kilometers and is definitely a must see.

On the other hand, you can visit in Japan, one of the most impressive forests in the world,  the Pagano Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. Admired by many by the sound produced by the bamboo when rocked by the wind, it invites you to feel something difficult to explain. It is recommended to visit it in autumn because of its great colors and visual beauty.

Also, in Croatia you will be able to visit one of the most beautiful forests in the world, a true oasis, located within the Plitvice Park, with an extension of twenty-two thousand hectares of promenade through beautiful waterfalls, lakes and wooden bridges, it is a true natural paradise. It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1979, for everything it represents.

If your destination takes you to the European continent, you cannot miss Belarus and Poland, to visit one of the virgin forests of this continent, known as Bialowieza, declared by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve in 1976 and a World Heritage Site  in 1979.

Last but not least, there is the Congo Forest, in Central Africa, crossing the regions of Gabon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, among others. There you can easily find species such as gorillas, chimpanzees, hippos, elephants, etc. This is the main attraction for tourists so you will not want to miss out.
