Yoga is a discipline that many people practice nowadays, not only because they help to exercise the body but also it helps to keep the mind and soul in peace, for this reason some specialists are recommending it to release the daily stress.

Stress is considered one of the variables that most affect physical and emotional health, thus generating depression, high blood pressure, insomnia and obesity, so yoga is qualified as a remedial practice for this type of illness, creating a state of relaxation in everyone who practices it.

Although yoga has many styles and intensities, there are some special postures to alleviate stress. For example, Prasarita Padottanasana, a position that consists of separating the legs, providing a balance with the Earth, while inhaling and strengthening the spine, the arms must be stretched towards the ceiling. Exhale and direct your upper body toward the floor. Place your hands on the floor, lowering as much as you can. Hold your feet to bend further forward. Exhale gently when you return to the starting position.

There is also the savasana or posture of the corpse, basic posture of yoga, which at first it seems simple, but it really requires being absolutely calm and concentrated on your body. Just lie back, open your legs at the level of your hips, and rest your arms to the side with your palms up. Then close your eyes, breathe deeply and slowly, while relaxing the whole body. Hold this posture for about five or ten minutes.

There is the Viparita karani, a posture that is called legs on the wall, recommended for reducing back pain and relieving tension in the lower back and hip. In addition to this, this posture is of great help to treat other types of aches or ailments like arthritis, insomnia, mild depression and cramps in various parts of the body.

Another yoga exercise to release stress,is the Closed-angle Supine, which is done by lying down on your back, placing two small pillows at the side of each thigh, flexed and feet facing each other. The palms of the hands should be at the side of the body, facing up. Breathing should be slow and deep for one to two minutes. The knees should be opened and closed while doing this posture.

Definitely yoga is one of the most recommended disciplines for releasing stress, because it helps to recycle the negative energy that stress produces into positive energy, all through breathing. However you must take into account that before starting any workout, you should stretch and warm up to avoid injury. Also, avoid making sudden movements, and if it is first time, go to a specialist to monitor your movements.
